How Much Compensation Can You Claim?

If you experienced a flight delay of three hours or more and wasn’t due to extraordinary circumstances, you are eligible for financial compensation. How much you are entitled falls under the Regulation (EC) 261/2004, which looks at several variables such as delay length and flight distance.

These regulations are extended to any European and non-European airlines. However, if a flight originates from a non-EU airport, the flight must meet additional requirements. If coming in from a non-EU airport to an EU airport, you must have flown with an EU airline for you to be eligible for compensation. This will be reviewed upon submitting your claim.

AMOUNT FLIGHT DESTINATION & DISTANCE
Compensation of €600 For all other flights
Compensation of €400 For flights between 1500 and 3500 kilometres from or to an airport outside the European Union
Compensation of €400 For all other flights within the EU
Compensation of €250 For flights of up to 1500 kilometers
* Please note: in the case of a long-distance flight of over 3500 kilometres being delayed between 3 and 4 hours, the airline is allowed to reduce the compensation of € 600 by 50%.
